Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP)

Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) define a set of interrelated measures designed to satisfy the mobility needs of people and businesses, today and tomorrow.

They are the result of an integrated planning approach and address all modes and forms of transport in cities and their surrounding area. The objectives of a SUMP are to ensure accessibility to the transport system to all, improve safety and security, reduce pollution, improve cost-efficiency of urban transport and, generally, to make the urban environment more attractive.

Audit and Certification Scheme

An Audit and Certification Scheme is a method to assess the quality of a certain product.

Audit and Certifications are very common in some fields of businesses, like the Hotel business (e.g. classification schemes for hotels, ranging from * to ***** hotels). The ADVANCE Audit will be a process, in which the quality of a city’s mobility plan is assessed and strategies to improve the plan are developed. Together with an external auditor, local governments critically review their mobility plans, assess its strength and weaknesses, and develop an action plan to further improve their mobility policies.
